May 3, 1998 — RaiLink-MacKenzie Northern takes over CN line from Smith, AB to Hay River, NWT.
May 5, 1929 — CN demonstrates perfect telephone service from a moving train. May 5, 1995 — Official opening of the CN tunnel between Sarnia and Port Huron (double-stack capable).
May 6, 1912 — Body of Grand Trunk President C.M. Hays (Titanic victim) returned to Halifax and transported to Montreal.
May 11, 1961 — CN installs Canada’s first hot axle box detector near Coteau, QC.
May 12, 1958 — Partial strike by CP Railway firemen begins (ends within days).
May 14, 1955 — Causeway completed across the Strait of Canso, linking Cape Breton Island by rail.
